The Philadelphia Flyers Land At The ACC To Take On Toronto Maple Leafs Tonight

In honor of my favorite rivalry, the Philadelphia Flyers vs. my home town Toronto Maple Leafs, I decided to post up a video featuring the highlights of the last game where these two teams faced off. Enjoy. Let's Go Flyers!

Game predictions: Flyers are taking this one 4 to 2 with an empty net goal for the insurance marker!

Too Little Too Late, Flyers Score After OT Buzzer & Lose To Sharks In Shootout

Claude Giroux scored his 100th National Hockey League point in a barn burner between the San Jose Sharks and the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers were up 4-1 before the dangerously equipped Sharks tied the game in the third period.

It appeared that the Flyers scored, beating the Over time buzzer for the win. However, upon further video review, it was determined that the time had winded down to it's last fraction of a second just before the puck finally crossed the line. Bummer.

Flyers Fall To The Calgary Flames In 3 to 2 Shootout Loss [11-26-10]

Chris Pronger was NOT happy that Mike Richards goal was over-turned by the referee's in overtime. Mike Richards appeared to score the game winner in OT with a wicked slapper from the top of the circle.

However, the refs immediately waived off the goal, which seemed legitimate, to call Chris Pronger with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, which lead to a shoot out decision, where Calgary managed to walk away with the valuable 2 points.

Flyers Fan Tribute Video - "Definition of a Team"

After the shut out loss to the Habs, I had to find something positive to post. So here is a cool Flyers fan tribute video made by a member/user of YouTube. Enjoy.

Carey Price & Habs Shut Out The Philadelphia Flyers - 11-16-10

The Flyers had been hot lately, actually they had been REALLY hot, with a 9-0-1 record in the last 10 games played. But something was definitely different tonight. Coming off a game just last night, against the Ottawa Senators, winning 5-1 at home - the Philadelphia Flyers quickly got on the road to Montreal.

Carey Price greeted the leagues hottest team (arguably) by slamming the door shut. Carey Price's shut out led the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-0 victory over the Flyers, who were penalized 15 times to the Habs 10 penalties.

Either way, 15 penalties is needless. The Philadelphia Flyers are going to have to go back to playing disciplined hockey if they expect to earn the W for next game.

Mike Richards' Tremendous Efforts Lead To Feature Article On TSN.ca

Mike Richards is my hero. No, seriously. This guy is the definition of a true team player. He is as clutch of a captain as you can have, on any team, at any time, period.

After watching the man put forth a tremendous effort, year after year, and of course he is not the only one, as others also follow his example. It's cool when you cheer for a team like the Flyers, and a favorite player like Mike Richards, and then they finally get recognized for their efforts.

Claude Giroux Signs 3-Year Extension With The Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers have made perhaps one of the clubs most significant signings in recent years. Drafted 22nd overall, in the first round of the 2006 NHL entry draft, Claude Giroux has quickly grown to be a forced to be reckoned with out on the ice.

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced today that they have just signed forward Claude Giroux to a 3 year extension in a deal which keeps the forward part of the Organization for the immediate and short term future.

As one of the team's key core role players, Claude Giroux is a talented shootout specialist, that scores nice goals and makes beautiful passes. He plays on the Power Play and shorthanded on the Penalty Kill. All in all, good sign, no doubt!

**Enjoy this Fan Made highlight video of Claude Giroux's moments with the Flyers thus far.**

Flyers Look To Win Seven Straight On The Road In Washington

Flyers fans will remember the big battle between Philadelphia and the Washington Capitals during the play offs a few seasons ago. I thought I would share this clip with my fellow Flyers fans as we look to see Philadelphia win it;s 7th straight game over the Caps tonight in Washington.

Flyers Win Six Straight With 2 to 1 Victory Over The New York Islanders

With tonight's 2 to 1 victory against Atlantic division rivals the New York Islanders, the Philadelphia Flyers have now won six straight games and are currently leading the Eastern conference.

Andreas Nodl netted the game winning goal on a shot by young gun Eric Wellwood, currently in the line up for Danny Briere during his suspension. Mike Richards also scored the Flyers first goal and helped assist the game winner.

Rookie goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky made 31 saves to win his six straight victory for the Flyers. This sixth straight win is one more win shy of tying the record set by Flyers goal tender Pelle Lindberg during the 1982-83 season.

The Flyers will look to earn their 7th straight win tomorrow night over Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.

Flyers Shamed At Home In 5-1 Loss To Pittsburgh Penguins

The Philadelphia Flyers were the first to strike Saturday night, hosting the penguins. Danny Briere roofed the puck over a sprawling Brent Johnson. After that, it was all Penguins.

Sidney Crosby scored two power play goals as the Penguins marched through the Wells Fargo Center and took advantage of the Flyers for taking too many penalties. Having to defend two 5-on-3 scenarios is always costly, for any team, but this was a lopsided loss which will no doubt lead to some serious adjustments.

The Battle for Pennsylvania series is now tied at 1-to-1 out of 6.

Time Changed For Saturday's Contest Between The Flyers & Penguins

The Philadelphia Flyers host the Pittsburgh Penguins this Saturday. The time has been changed from 7:00pm EST to 6:00pm EST due to the massive traffic which will be caused by the Phillies play off game.

This will be the second match up between these two teams this season. The Flyers currently lead the season series 1-0 and look to build on their lead as the Penguins continue their ugly start.

Flyers To Honor Simon Gagne's Return As They Host The Lightning

The Philadelphia Flyers will honor former team-mate and long tenured Flyer Simon Gagne when he return to Philadelphia on Thursday night. The Flyers look to build a win streak as they greet the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Long time Flyers great Simon Gagne was originally drafted by Philadelphia back in 2000. Since then, he has gone on to have many accomplishments, including multiple 40+ goal seasons and playing along side some of the game's greats including Peter Forsberg and Keith Primeau.

Personally, I will never forget how Simon Gagne's return during the 2009-2010 playoff series against the Boston Bruins began one of the most epic comebacks in sports history!

Flyers Lean On Boucher In Shoot-out To Squeak In 7th To Lock Down Playoff Spot

Matt Carle scored to tie the game, which ended up going through overtime and into a shootout. Brian Boucher held the Flyers in the game at pivotal points where the Rangers had sustained pressure.

Eventually the Flyers defensive play lead to smart plays and extended periods of pressure in the offensive zone. Fortunately, heading in to the shootout every participant played their role to a tee.

Danny Briere stepped up to shoot first and managed to confuse Henrik Lundquist with a series of dekes before putting the puck to the twine. After Boucher made a save on the first shooter for New York, Mike Richards shot was deflected away by Lundquist who played phenomenal for the New York Rangers in their last game of the year.

Claude Giroux saved the day for the Flyer's club when he popped the puck in five hole to take the shootout lead. Now it all fell on Brian Boucher, who stayed with New York's last shooter, Olli Jokinen, and kept the puck out of the net to send the Flyers to the first round of the play offs.

Bring on the Devils!

Flyer's Richards, Pronger Win Gold With Team Canada At 2010 Olympics

In a thrilling Over-Time win, which saw Flyer's fans most hated rival Sidney Crosby score the game winner, the Canadian Men's Hockey team accomplished what they set out to do, win the gold medal at the Olympics.

Chris Pronger logged 24 mins of ice-time in the game, where he was relied upon more heavily then any other previous game in the men's final. Flyer's captain Mike Richards tallied an important assist on the game's first goal by Johnathan Toews while playing a prominent role on a very skilled line of all captains (Rick Nash of Columbus, and Johnathan Toews of Chicago).

It is very exciting to see Team Canada achieve Olympic gold victory in ice hockey for the first time on home soil. Pronger, served as an alternate captain for Team Canada as he brings the veteran experience of winning a gold medal prior to the 2010 games.

Richards, a new comer to Team Canada's Olypic roster, had a modest --- pts, goals and - assists. More importantly, Mike Richards did exactly what he was brought on the team to do, play a hard-nosed physically competitive game, win puck battles, draws and kill penalties.

After much criticism of the young forward's placement on the team, he definitely proved his worth, which made this Flyer's fan very proud to be a fan and a Canadian.

well that didn't work

lol, I totally shhhhlacked hard on this blog all f'in year...

in the mean time Mike Richards made the Team Canada roster, and I predict that he scores the game winning goal against the Americans in the gold medal game! Let's go Richie!!!!
